Most of those commercials for The Foundation for a better life bring tears to my eyes. I have to say, they've done a great job with those commercials. Eye-catching, short, and definitely dealing with the every-day. There is one particular commercial that sends me bawling like a helpless baby. The one about unconditional love, that a woman is at her father's bedside as he's dying and she is crying and holding his hand. In the backgound, a song by a female vocalist plays saying something about 'daddy, you can let go,' as a montage plays of different clips of her life where her dad had to let her go, such as him teaching her to ride a bike and giving her away when she got married. Now, it is her turn to let her dad go. Wow. Talk about a powerful commercial.
Naturally, this commercial makes me think of my dad and all the times he "let go." First day of school, riding a bike, staying at a friend's house- so many, many things. It makes me think of how I had to let him go. I co-signed his DNR. Talk about letting go!
It makes me think of my own kids and the times I've had to let them go, as well as all the milestones ahead for us. Is that commercial meant to evoke so much deep introspection and emotion? I don't know for sure, but if it is, they did a fantastic job.
